Funeral services for Mr. Billie Lando Scantland, 82, of
Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday,
January 15, 2012, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral
Home. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown
community of Jackson County, TN.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 3 P.M. – 9
P.M., and Sunday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
He passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at
Cumberland River Hospital in Celina, TN.
He was born May 12, 1929, in Jackson County, TN, to the
late William Scantland and Ora Hix Scantland. On April 9,
1955, he was married to the late Willene Brown Scantland,
who passed away March 10, 2000. He was retired from
Chrysler, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in
death by 4 Brothers and 3 Sisters-in-Law: Lawton and
Geraldine Scantland, Eston B. and Anna Scantland, James
“Jim” Scantland, and Elbert and Idell Scantland; and 1 Sister
and 3 Brothers-in-Law: Louise and Gene Barlow, Donnie Hix,
and Thomas Stewart.
Survivors include 5 Sons: Danny (Colleen) Scantland of
Shelby Township, MI, Lando Scantland, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN,
Jeffrey Scantland of Celina, TN, Don (Betty) Scantland of
Hilham, TN, and David Paul Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 1
Daughter: Debbie Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 1 Brother
and 2 Sisters-in-Law: Joe (Edna) Scantland of Gainesboro,
TN, and Betty Scantland of Gainesboro, TN; 4 Sisters: Martha
(Earl) Flynn, Dorothy Stewart, and Betty Hix, all of Gainesboro,
TN, and Ina (Charlie) Poston of Livingston, TN; 11
Grandchildren; and 3 Great Grandchildren.
