Funeral services for Mr. James Howard Harris, 69, of
Gainesboro, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Sunday,
August 28, 2011, at Anderson - Upper Cumberland Funeral
Home. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery
in the Stone community of Jackson County, TN.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 4 P.M. – 9
P.M., and on Sunday from 12 Noon until time of services.
He passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011, at
Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN.
He was born May 8, 1942, in Jackson County, TN, to the late
Pole Harris and Eula Godsey Harris. On June 16, 1964, he
was married to Sally Porterfield Harris, who survives. He
worked for the Jackson County Solid Waste Department, and
was a member of the Dudneys Hill Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 5
Sisters: Mattie Stewart, Hattie Chaffin, Mary Jo Lawson, Louise
Haney, and Velma Bowman; and 2 Brothers: Cordell Harris
and Roosevelt Harris.
Survivors include his Wife: Sally Porterfield Harris of
Gainesboro, TN; 1 Son: Paul Harris and wife, Amanda, of
Gainesboro, TN; 1 Daughter: Linda Hix and husband, John, of
Gainesboro, TN; 4 Grandchildren: Rachel, Rebecca, and
James Wayne Harris, and Emily Hix; 1 Sister: Jean Haney and
husband, Harlen, of Cookeville, TN; and his Long - Time
Special Friend: Willard Head.
Bro. Sam Mainord will officiate at the services.
