Funeral services for Mrs. Thelma Jean Smith Phillips, 72,
of Cookeville, Tennessee, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday,
October 13, 2011, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral
Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the New Hope
Cemetery in the New Hope community of Jackson County.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 3 P.M. –
8 P.M., and on Thursday from 12 Noon until time of services.
She passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, at
Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN.
She was born December 26, 1938, in Jackson County, TN,
to the late Estel B. Smith and Myrtle Gertrude Huffines
Smith. On June 18, 1955, she was married to Roy G. Phillips,
who survives. She was a housewife and homemaker, and of the
Protestant faith.
Survivors include her Husband: Roy G. Phillips of
Cookeville, TN; 2 Sons: Ralph Keith (Darcy) Phillips of
Charlotte, NC, and Gregory Kevin Phillips of Cookeville, TN; 1
Grandchild: Chayton Phillips; and 1 Brother: Bob R. Smith of
Cookeville, TN.
Bro. Jimmy Anderson, Bro. Mike Ayers, and Bro. Phillip
Morgan will officiate at the services.
